ALL WHITE OUTFIT WITH PINK STRIPE SHIRT FOR A HOT SUMMER DAY

Hello dear friends, how are you all?

The last couple of weeks were extremely hot, even by Australian standards and having learnt the hard way about skin cancer, protecting my skin from the damage of the sun has become absolutely paramount.   

These days I am not only slathering myself with 50+ sunblock (it was 15+ when I landed in Sydney 30 years ago, lol) but I seldom leave the house without carrying with me some sort of cover, whether it is a scarf, a blazer or in this case, a linen shirt).

Thanks to the fashion designers who care about our skin and focus on designing for us all these bright, attractive, adorable oversized blouses and shirts of all colours of the rainbow so we not only are protected but look good too.  

Case in point, this cheerful bright pink and white stripped oversized shirt from on-line retailer ICONIC that my older daughter who works in the fashion industry and knows exactly what is on trend at any given moment bought for me.   She also knows that her mother loves wearing pink colours so here we are.

If it wasn’t for her, I would have bought it myself in exactly the same colour hue.  First of all, I think it suits my complexion and the colour looks great against tanned skin and secondly I love reinforcing this hue by also wearing oversized hoops in a lighter shade.

I kept the other elements of my outfit plain and simple; a white denim skirt and a white linen sleeveless top.  Here is the short story about this skirt.  If my memory serves me right, the last you saw me wearing it was back in 2017 when we were on holidays in Sorrento and were on a boat excursion to view the Blue Grotto off the island of Capri. 

We all had to climb over the side of the boat to get into a small dingy in order to get inside the Blue Grotto.  You can only imagine what a sight it was when I was trying to swing my legs over the rim while trying to keep my skirt from hiking up.  I was so humiliated from that experience that I promised to myself never to wear it again.

But as the saying goes: "Time is the best remedy" so the skirt is back on rotation.

I AM WEARING WHITE DENIM SKIRT|DOVE GREY BLOUSE|CHOCKER

Hello my dear readers and fellow bloggers,

Hope you are all well and having a good week and have made some interesting plans for the coming weekend.

Today’s look is my second attempt to explore the possibility of the happy co-existence of rough street style denim and smooth luxurious silk that I started in the previous post (for those of you who, who have not read the previous post or would need a reminder, please read it here).  Hopefully, at the end of my experiment, I will end up with a couple of more fresh outfits. 

This outfit is full of challenges and experimentation and the elements involved are: a street style white denim skirt, an elegant evening dove grey silk blouse and a hand-made choker.

This is one of my most favourite blouses that I love to wear when we are going to the Opera House to see a ballet or to listen to a symphony concert. I like to pair it with a black maxi skirt or tuxedo pants and adorn it with a string of pearls. There are few details of it that I particularly like, the fact that it does not have buttons but rather wraps up around your hips and the overextended sleeves with French style cuffs that I prefer to wear down for an extra chic factor as opposed to a casual rolled-up cuff look.

Today, however, I am pairing it with a white denim skirt that is in a totally different league and really hoping that it would work. The combo does not look too bad but it needs some final touches and the key to success is to choose the right accessories: shoes, handbag, jewellery etc.

First and and probably most crucial of them all - the footwear.  I was debating between low and high heel shoes and I tried them both but after consulting the mirror, the high heels won hands down.

WE ALL KNOW THAT NOT ONLY DO HIGH HEELS HELP TO MAKE OUR LEGS SLIMMER AND LONGER BUT ALSO DELIVER A STRIKE OF ELEGANCE TO THE SIMPLEST OUTFIT TAKING IT TO A COMPLETELY NEW LEVEL.

 I added a small Chanel purse to keep it consistent with the elegantly chic style of the blouse and the shoes.

Also, I am experimenting with a choker. I have never ever worn nor owed a choker before but since I am pushing boundaries here, why not add another one, right? It is not a choker per se, it is, actually, is a bracelet that I wrapped around my neck and tied up at the back with a piece of string.  It was a classic case where the saying “Necessity is a mother of invention” can be applied.

I was having a lot of fun bringing all the elements together to create a stylish new outfit and I think I succeeded.

MY FIRST NEW SEASON OUTFIT - WHITE SKIRT WITH FLORAL SHIRT AND BLOCK HEEL SHOES

Hi everyone,

It has officially been two months of spring here in Australia but the weather is still not settled into a warm temperature mode and it is very difficult to predict what it will be like from one day to the next.  Meanwhile, Sydneysiders take every possible opportunity to strip down to shorts and t-shirts and spend a day at the beach to get the perfect tan.

My beloved Sydney looks absolutely gorgeous at this time of the year.  The trees and bushes are in full bloom with their scented flowers and the bright colours make every street look absolutely magical, whether you are driving around the city or walking along the leafy streets of your neighbourhood – the scenery is a delight for the eyes and a pleasure for the senses.

I always like to observe how the change in seasons makes a mental effect on people’s choice of clothing.   Away went the subdued palette of blacks, the browns and the greys (we say grey, you say gray) and heavy fabrics of winter, in came the bright colours and patterns and of the spring.

It was of those nice warm days that  I, too, decided to shed my long pants and dark colours and donned on my flower print shirt that has been in my wardrobe since the last floral print craze a few years ago.  I wanted my outfit to be summery from head to toe and so I wore it with a white denim pencil skirt.  The shirt is quite long but I didn’t want to tuck it in entirely, only at the and to accentuate my waist a little, I simply threaded a slim pale pink leather belt.

Finally, the time has come to wear my new open-back block heel Max and Co
shoes that I bought on the mid-winter sale but couldn’t wear them until now.

I wanted my look to project a slightly sporty look, thanks to the denim skirt and low heel shoes and so I chose a satchel bag in a bright turquoise colour to complete my first new season outfit.

I am wearing:  skirt - Country Road, shirt - Zara, bag - Coach, shoes - Max & Co.
