MY YELLOW PHASE

Hello dear friends,

Hope you are coping well and that your spirits are high.  We, in Australia, are slowly moving forward: the students are back at school and from 1 May the restaurants will be allowed to seat up to 50 patrons, with social distancing in mind of, course.  Also we are now allowed to travel interstate, have picnics and invite people over.
MY YELLOW PHASE
The nail salons will be opened, so you can go and have your nails done but the gyms are not going to be open any time soon which is a shame as despite the fact that we are unable to eat and drink out anymore, I have managed to gain some weight that I can't shake off by myself, as hard as I try L.
MY YELLOW PHASE
Funny but I have mixed feelings about the current situation, on the one hand it’s nice to get back to the life we lived pre-COVID, on the other hand I am petrified that the virus might come back with a vengeance.  So my husband and I have decided to wait for at least a month to see what happens, I still wear a mask and a pair of gloves when I do the grocery shopping, we will avoid places with large numbers of people gathering and have our coffee and food take-away only.
MY YELLOW PHASE
But back to the topic of today's post.  It is the 3rd post in the series that I called "MY COLOUR PHASES" and it is about the colour Yellow.  The first two were about Orange (read here) and Blue (read here) ones.  A quick Google search revealed that the colour yellow is the brightest on the spectrum and hence is the most noticeable.  It means happiness and optimism, hope, energy and enthusiasm but most importantly it is the colour of the sun and of brightness.
MY YELLOW PHASE
As I sit at my desk on this cold miserable grey day in Sydney writing this post and looking through the window all I can see is pelting rain, just writing about bright colours helps me to break up the bleakness of the day, fills me with positive energy and elevates my mood.  Just what the doctor ordered 😃
MY YELLOW PHASE
I am sure it would not come to you as a surprise to know that I absolutely adore bright colours, I like to wear them and I like to have them in my home.
MY YELLOW PHASE
It is a well known fact that the choice of colours reflects personality, and the strong bold bright hues are not everyone's cup of tea.  However, if you feel that a little injection of a bright colour would do no harm but are not sure where to start, the good way to tackle this challenge is to start with something small like a scarf or a pair of earrings, a handbag or a pair of shoes and go from there.
MY YELLOW PHASE
As your confidence builds, you might like to wear a blouse or a jumper of a bright colour that suits your complexion and keep the bottom garment, skirt or pants, dark.  This is a perfect example of how the 60-30-10 rule works.  You can read more about it here.
MY YELLOW PHASE
Also, you can tone down the intensity and the volume of the colour a notch, instead of bright red, you can wear something in pastel pink or burgundy or rather than canary yellow, it could be pale yellow and instead of intense electric blue, you can find something in a more calming blue.  Just give it a go.
MY YELLOW PHASE
What is your feeling about bright strong colours and how do you incorporate them into your wardrobe?  Please share your thoughts in the comments section.

Until then,

Anna

  2. I love yellow! This year, I picked up some yellow lemon decor to bring in spring and summer into the house and I will probably keep it out until July. It is such a happy color!

  7. Yellow is such a fun colour to wear, although I think I have more yellow accessories than clothes...something I need to work on! :)

We are the same - while more is open now and the kids are at school we are doing as much online as we can (including grocery shopping!) although I did venture out to the stores in person today. everyone stood so close, I didn't really like it when they weren't keeping any distance.

Hope you had a lovely weekend :) Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! The new link up is live on my blog now, I'd love you to join again. :)

  8. Thank you Mica. Sadly, some people don't get it and I freak out every time someone trying to walk pass me on the escalator. Have a great week
