MY LITTLE WOODS T DRESS

Hi everyone, hope you are well.
Victoria & Woods T Dress
I had a few quite busy days looking after my cute granddaughter while her other grand parents went away and it exhausted me to much that when her parents finally took her home, I felt that I needed a holiday. I don't know how do they do it day in and day out, it is very hard work as.  I strongly believe that Mother Nature had her reasons when she designed our bodies and made sure that the women of a "certain age" should not have kids.

That said, it didn't stop me, a woman of the mentioned age, from trying on and then paying for this little black Woods T dress from Victoria and Woods clothing label.  I went to the shopping mall without any intention of looking for anything in particular, just let my mind wonder over the racks hoping that something would get my attention.  And this dress did.  It's simple T silhouette with a branded stand up collar caught my vision first and when I tried it on, turned out it has the perfect length, just to show enough skin above the knees.  Its a sport luxe look really appealed to me.

The salesgirl suggested that it will look great with sport shoes which are so on trend this season but I knew that she was referring to a much younger crowd and that it would not suit me.  As my younger daughter put it, I would be trying too hard.

So instead of going down this road, I've decided to give this dress a totally new look and feel and for that reason I kicked off the sneakers and put on low heel shoes, previously seen here

To elevate this look even further and keeping up with black and white colour scheme, I chose a vintage black envelope shaped bag with wide white trim and a black and white jacquard strap which replaced the boring original one.  Besides, it was rather short for me too.

We are in the midst of finalising our annual holidays and I will definitely pack this dress with me.  It is made of very soft organic cotton jersey which requires minimum effort to look after and is crease free.   I will not wear it with sneakers as it will be too predictable, however I am sure it will look great paired with ballet flats.  We will see.

HOW I STYLED A MILITARY JACKET

Hello everyone,

The Military Jacket in its many reincarnations has been making its appearance on countless clothing websites, social media platforms and fashion spreads all over the world.  Its popularity among men could be equally measured by the willingness of women of all ages to be seen clad in this extremely versatile garment.

I, on another hand, was not in a rush to jump on the band wagon convinced that its style does not exactly suit my taste nor would I look good in it until one day I walked into my teenage daughter's room and saw it lying in a heap on the floor.
HOW I STYLED A MILITARY JACKET
It was an unusually warm day for autumn (I live in Australia, remember? and it is autumn in the Southern Hemisphere) and I was wearing a sleeveless silk maxi dress in a so-called "Swamp Green" colour.  I was getting ready to go to view an Isabella Blow exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum and all I needed was to grab a jacket and I would be on my way. It was at that moment that I decided to put the Military Jacket over my dress and see how I looked in it.

The result was better then I expected. I really liked the juxtaposition of the soft fluid feeling of the silk against the rough fabric of the jacket and the contrast of the feminine shape of the dress with the rather androgynous utilitarian style of the jacket so I decided to "borrow" it for the day.  I also discovered that there a few ways I can wear the Military Jacket depending on how confident I feel or what I am wearing it with, from casually carrying it over my shoulder to being tied up around my waist for a true street style.

My newly acquired metallic shoes that I bought while holidaying in Athens and golden socks worked really well with this outfit.

A stack of bangles in various shapes and shades of green complemented the colour palette of the clothes and added a light touch of bohemian layer to my outfit.

Lesson learnt, step outside of your comfort zone from time to time and open yourself up to new options and possibilities.  You might be pleasantly surprised and rewarded by the result.
