Hello dear friends, how are you?
After weeks and weeks of bad weather, blame it on “La Nina”,
we finally have our true Australian summer weather and can’t get enough of it,
present company included. If we are not
at the beach 🏖, we are likely to be taking a stroll along the water’s edge or having a picnic nearby enjoying the smell
of the ocean breeze while watching guys on surfboards conquering the waves 🌊.
Up until this summer, my “go to” beach outfit would be a pair of denim shorts that were rather short and just covered the top of my thighs but this summer, after a long deliberation, I decided to swap them for something longer and less revealing and bought myself a pair of Bermuda’s. I know people say dress as you like and not for your age but truth be told, I just feel more comfortable in a longer version; besides I found the Bermuda's are more adaptable to many more different venues than my old ones and that was another reason that I like them.
If you read the description of what qualifies as Bermuda shorts, "they are a particular type of short trousers, worn as semi-casual attire by both men and women. The hem, which can be cuffed or un-cuffed, is around 1 inch (2.5 cm) above the knee". I liked the fact that they are not exactly called "shorts" but rather a type of short semi-casual attire and that gave me an idea of wearing them to the places that have nothing to do
with the beach.
Case in point, this outfit that I wore last Sunday. It was a lunch date with the friends of ours
in a very nice Italian place called Bondi Trattoria. Apart from serving delicious Italian food in
a relaxed atmosphere, this place has a commanding view over Bondi Beach making
it one of our favourites.
Although we were near the beach, I wanted to dress in a way
that while looking casual, still had an element of style and my new white Bermuda shorts seemed to be a perfect fit for the occasion. I first planned to wear them with a t-shirt but then my choice fell on a light grey silk blouse
but instead of wearing it all buttoned up like I used to, I just slipped it
over a white singlet and left it undone.
Besides, I wanted to protect my shoulders from the sun in case we decided to take a stroll along the beach front after lunch. As it turned out, there was quite a strong wind that day but my silk blouse kept me warm and protected from the elements.
I picked up a pair of denim bermuda shorts last year and really wore them more than my shorter pairs I looked for white pair but didn't find one I like but after seeing yours here I will definitely pick a pair when the warm weather arrives. I found them very comfortable and easy to style.

Thank you Mireille, I am sure you will look lovely in a pair of white shorts in the coming summer :)
DeleteThese Bermuda shorts look great on you and they go with so many tops and shoes. You can dress them up or dress them down. My favorite look in your article is the one with the white top and white sneakers.

DeleteYou look fabulous in your new Bermudas, Anna! Strolling along Bondi Beach sounds so awesome. I have never felt that I looked that good in shorts, although I did wear mid-thigh shorts sometimes when I was younger. Now, I like capri length.

Shorts and I have a complicated relationship! Bermudas are too long for my short legs, but short shorts expose too much of my thick legs! Every once in a while I find the perfect pair. You look wonderful in these shorts...you have killer legs!

Thank you Mica. I am sure you look great in shorts as you do in your cute denim skirts :) Have a great week
DeleteYou wear those Bermuda shorts very well and they are perfect for a Sydney Summer. I admit I have never been a fan of shorts for me , way too casual. Our Summer in Tassie has been warm and dry , the best for a few years.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jill. Ours is all rain and no shine, worst as I can remember. Enjoy the sunshine:)
DeleteYou look so pretty in these bermuda shorts. Thanks for sharing these pictures and idea.
