I can't speak for the rest of the world, but maxi skirts in an animal print, leopard in particular, are so on trend in Sydney right now that sometimes it feels like we are living in the jungle. As a rule, I try to stay away from micro trends and fads knowing too well that they disappear as quickly as they arrive on the fashion scene but the rules are made to be broken and I decided to break mine when one day while I was browsing the racks of skirts in
Tuchuzi, an upscale boutique in the heart of Bondi Beach, I spotted (pun not intended 😊 ) a skirt that caught my eye or its bright colour and unusual print (it was called
Cheetah) and that style reminded me of the skirt that I modelled for you in an earlier post
here. Lately I came to like bias cut midi slip style skirts for their versatility, simplicity and understated chic and was quite happy to add another one to my wardrobe. In the past, the garments made out of silk were indicators of wealth and those who could afford the garments were placed on a high rung of the society ladder but these days the boundaries have been blurred and a mix of high and street fashion has become
je ne sais quoi.
I created these two looks for totally different occasions just to show you how adaptable this skirt could be.
For the formal look I wanted to upscale the skirt and thus chose this burnt orange colour wrap around silk blouse with a wide sash belt and patent sling backs in a similar hue.
Outfit details:
Skirt: Tuchuzi
Blouse: Carla Zampatti
Shoes: Georgio Armani
Clutch: Vintage
Cocktail Ring: Uterque
We shot my second, casual look on Bondi Beach, the essence of relaxed easy going vibe and I wanted to test how my skirt would look down there. Besides, you can't find a better background for your photo shoot then famous
Bondi Beach Graffiti Wall . For this occasion, I paired it with casual button down cotton shirt that I tied in a knot around my waist and a pair of white sneakers that are hugely popular right now. An oversized plastic earrings added another layer of casualness to my outfit.
Outfit details:
Skirt: same as above
Shirt: Uniqlo
Shoes: Converse All Stars
Earrings: Gorman
Bracelet: Tiffany
Until then,
Anna

Thank you Jodie, I was quite surprised myself when it turned out that way
DeleteI love both looks, Anna! Of course, the first one is my favorite, probably, because I am from Russia... I still love dressy looks more. But the second one looks very relaxing and stylish. And looking at your photos I realized that I definitely need a pair of white keds or sneakers.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tatiana, I am like you, I love dressy clothes and high heel shoes but these days the girls wear sneakers with everything and for all occasions
DeleteThese colours are divine on you, whilst i like the black top you really do shine in the copper silky one. Thanks for sharing. Jacqui Mummabstylish

DeleteOh my goodness, you look fabulous! I especially love the first outfit with the wrap top! What a difference those wrap tops make to define the waist line. I love them!
ReplyDeleteYou are right, Amy thank you
DeleteAnna, I saw your gorgeous outfit on the Shoe and Tell Link Up and had to check out your post! What a gorgeous skirt--both outfits just work! We visited Bondi Beach in December for the first time and an unusual fog rolled in! It reminded us of where we live along the coast in Southern California. Fog like that is common in April here but apparently it was highly unusual that day at Bondi. We loved it anyway!

Hi Dalene, in all my years living in the area,I've never seem the fog that you saw but I agree with you, it is such an iconic place on Earth. Thank you for the comment

This skirt was a smart buy, I'm glad you broke your rule! I've started wearing midi lengths lately, which breaks one of my rules, but they look so stylish.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kim
