If you are a regular reader of my blog, you probably read my last post which was a first in a my new series called "MY COLOUR PHASE" where I talk about a period of time where one particular colour would subconsciously dominate my entire wardrobe popping up in every outfit and even spreading over to my home decor. Reading your comments, I realised that I am not alone in it and quite a few of you have experienced similar "phases". If you missed that post, you can catch up on it here.
Encouraged by the success of this new idea, I would like to continue the series and tell you about mine next BLUE PHASE. The fact that is is have been chose as the colour of the year 2020 by Pantone is purely coincidental.
There are
a lot of good things mentioned about this colour: it is the colour of the sky and the sea which
has a peaceful effect on our minds and gives us a sense of normality and
therefore is often used in bedrooms. It is often associated with depth and stability and it symbolises
trust, loyalty and intelligence.
It is hugely versatile and when mixed with other colours,
offers us a wide spectrum of beautiful hues that would suit people with different types of complexions. Just think about a gorgeous
turquoise blue, cobalt blue, sky or sea blue, Tiffany Blue and one of my favourite, teal just to name a few. and don’t forget denim
to name just a few that are loved and worn by many.
I am sure we all have something made out of blue in our closets. They key in choosing the right hue is to know
what type of complexion you are. For
example, if you like to wear something in cobalt blue, be aware that it has red
undertones and if a red does not suit you then this particular hue might
not be your best choice or if you after something in gorgeous turquoise, be
aware that it has yellow undertones that might not be one of your favourites.
Here are some images that illustrate my BLUE PHASE. Scrolling
through the images for this post, I realised that I have much more things in blue than I imagined. As with the colour orange, my BLUE PHASE has spread over accessories, shoes, handbags and spills into my home interiors in the
form of artwork, home accessories and even crockery.
I am pleased I am over it, at least for now as I moved on to the next phase. But that story is for the next post. Please share your thoughts and pictures.

Until then,
It is fun to see outfits with a color theme like this. It is great inspiration. Not sure that I am in a specific phase right now apart from wanting brights but am not really wearing them that much.

Every time I promise myself to buy something classic like black or white, I end up with something in bright or prints or both
DeleteThis is funny, because I was talking to my hubby the other day and I was telling him how I've noticed during this shut in that all his business shirts are blue. Lol. It is funny how we will gravitate to one color that we become comfortable with. I love blue in the summer! Those blue sandals are adorable.

ReplyDeleteJust a few years back, I would've pooh poohed blue, claiming that I would never wear blue. That it's not my colour, blah blah, but of late, it's been growing on me :) especially when paired with white or yellow. Speaking of which, I love LOVE that first outfit of yours, Anna, with the striped pants and star cut-out cropped jacket. Divine.
ReplyDeletethank you Sheela, this jacket is one of my favourite
DeleteYou rock denim. Beautiful looks.

DeleteThere are a lot of great looks in your Blue Phase. I'm loving the distressed jeans outfits. I'm kind of entering a blue phase!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kim, hope you will have great outfits and will share them with us
DeleteYou have some great pieces. I love the tie-dye pants (and I am not usually a fan of tie-dye), the blue sandals, the turquoise bag, the blue wine glass. You do have great taste. Lise
ReplyDeleteThank you Lise
ReplyDeleteBlue will always be my favourite colour - I have so much of it in my wardrobe I could wear it every day, haha! I am trying not to wear blue jeans, I had over 20 pairs at one point which was crazy, but the rest of the blue in my wardrobe more than makes up for it! It's my comfort colour and makes me feel better and gives me a bit of a confidence boost when I wear it!
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a lovely week :)
Away From Blue
Blue is and always has been one of my favorite colors. Probably 45% of my closet is blue. I'd avoided it a bit in my home, though, because it always reminded me of the 80s (maybe....or 90s) but now it's such a popular color and I've been adding more blue accessories around the house. It's funny, but I never really related that to what's predominant in my closet :P I love the print-mixing in the first photo and you have an amazing collection of shoes! I don't have any blue shoes (unless you count flip flops as shoes) but keep eyeing them so I probably need to just get some. And you totally rock those ripped jeans. I've avoided getting any but may "force" the issue with a few pairs I currently have and try it out. I love the scarves you wear tied around your neck. I've worn them that way a couple of times and really love the way it looks. I love your style and you look just gorgeous in all of these blue looks! So glad to have found your blog - you'll see me here more often!

Thank you so much Ruth, for such an detailed message, I appreciate your comments and inputs. Glad that you found me, I liked your style too
DeleteMy favorite color is red but hardly own anything that is red! Yellow has been on my radar lately and love how it pops and brings about sunshine! :) Blue is another color that I love and probably own a lot more of. I just love how it reminds me of the sea or sky. It gives me peace and calmness. You have so many beautiful blue pieces and those blue sandals are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMaureen | www.littlemisscasual.com
Thank you Maureen, there are some many varieties of blue that sometimes we don't even realise that we have it in our wardrobes.
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty pieces! I love the blue star jacket and the scarf, so sharp! Really lovely styles I need to add more blue hues to my closet! Those bow sandals are adorable!
